ANNOUNCEMENT - Coverage for Post COVID-19 Vaccination Side Effects for Year 2021

Pleased be informed that Gibraltar BSN is offering complimentary coverage for post COVID-19 vaccination side effects in 2021.
1. Benefit Offered
The below benefit is offered to all existing and new customers of Gibraltar BSN medical insurance products from 7 June 2021 to 31 December 2021;
[1] The benefit is payable only if the customer is hospitalised due to serious Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) within 7 days after an approved Covid-19 vaccination. The vaccination received for the first dose and subsequent dose must be approved and administered by a registered medical personnel at a Ministry of Health Malaysia’s designated location in Malaysia.
Serious Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) is defined as the situation where it is life-threatening, may result in persistent or significant disability/incapacity, and requires in-patient hospitalisation or prolongation of existing hospitalisation and medical intervention to prevent permanent impairment or damage.
Please do note that the complimentary coverage offered may be changed or withdrawn according to situational circumstances.
2. Eligible Customers
This benefit is offered to all in-force, reinstated and new life assured of the eligible individual Gibraltar BSN medical insurance products listed below;
The complimentary post COVID-19 vaccination side effect coverage is not offered if any of the following conditions is/are met for any in-force policy(ies) that the customer has/have during claim;
- There is policy or premium loan; or/and
- There is outstanding premium; or/and
- The policy is under premium holiday status; or/and
- The policy is under waiver of premium claim.
Each customer is entitled for this benefit under one (1) policy only despite he or she having multiple policies with Gibraltar BSN.
Also, each customer is entitled for this benefit only once during the period despite he or she is re-hospitalised due to serious AEFI during the period.
3. Waiting Period
There is no waiting period applied to this post COVID-19 vaccination side effect coverage for new or reinstated customers.

1. What does the post COVID-19 Vaccination Side Effect benefit cover?
We will provide one-time cash relief of RM500 if you are is hospitalised due to serious Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) within 7 days from Covid-19 vaccination. 6. Do I need to pay any additional fees to enjoy this benefit?
No.
7. If I have serious AEFI post Covid-19 vaccination and I am hospitalised, does the medical plan cover the hospitalisation cost?
The hospitalisation cost is not covered by the medical plan but you will receive a one-time cash relief of RM500 from us if you are hospitalised within 7 days from the Covid-19 vaccination.
8. Does this benefit apply to hospitalisation in both private and government hospitals in Malaysia and outside Malaysia?
This benefit is payable if you are hospitalised in both private and government hospitals in Malaysia only.
9. Can I make multiple claims if I am hospitalised more than once due to serious AEFI post COVID-19 vaccination?
No. You can only claim once despite having multiple policies with Us or multiple hospitalisation.
10. Am I entitled to this complimentary benefit if my policy has premium loan or policy loan?
No.
11. Am I entitled to this complimentary benefit if my policy has outstanding premium?
No.
12. Am I entitled to this complimentary benefit if my policy has an existing waiver of premium claim?
No.
13. Am I entitled to this complimentary benefit if I have an existing medical claim?
Yes.
14. Am I entitled to this complimentary benefit if I have claimed the hospitalisation income benefit from the existing complimentary Covid-19 coverage?
Yes.
15. If I make a claim for this complimentary post Covid-19 vaccination side effect benefit, am I still entitled for the existing complimentary Covid-19 coverage?
Yes.
16. Is there any waiting period for this complimentary post Covid-19 vaccination side effect benefit to take effect on my current policy?
No. There is no waiting period and this complimentary post Covid-19 vaccination side effect benefit is immediately extended to your current policy.
