Gibraltar BSN Contributes To The Sibu Community

Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad continued its philanthropic efforts for unprivileged children through a project at Sibu Methodist Children’s Home as part of the life insurance company’s “Our Children, Our Future” (OCOF) program. Gibraltar BSN staff and authorized agencies, CAD Asia Agency and Jenny Fung Agency, recently visited the Children’s Home to lend a helping hand to makeover the facility.

The Sibu Methodist Children’s Home, a non-profit charitable organization, has been operating since 1950. Over the past years, this Children’s Home has accommodated more than 900 orphans and underprivileged children ranging in age from 5 to 22 years.

On the day of the event, volunteers were welcomed and greeted excitedly by the children upon their arrival at the home. The volunteers devoted their time painting the dining hall, kitchen area and playground equipments, installing new beds, tidying and cleaning the compound around the house. To commemorate Gibraltar BSN’s visit, a wall plaque was presented to the Sibu Methodist Children’s Home.

Mr. Koh Wei Lee, the Chief Marketing Officer of Gibraltar BSN said, “We are grateful to be here today to lend a helping hand and to build a better and brighter environment for these children. In line with our company’s mission statement “We Protect Dreams”, we strive to safeguard the aspirations of not only our customers but also our society at large. Our journey not only stops here at Sibu as we will be organizing more visits to orphanage homes at Kuala Lumpur, Kota Bharu and Penang in the coming months.

Agency Manager, Ms. Jenny Fung Liang Hua commented “It has always been my dream to be a part of an initiative that helps the local community. By making their home a more comfortable place to stay, I hope that we’ve showed in a meaningful way that there are people in the society that care for these children”.

The OCOF program by Gibraltar BSN in collaboration with their authorized agencies was adapted from a philosophy inspired by Prudential Financial Inc (PFI)* to encourage employees to make meaningful contributions to their local communities through volunteerism. Gibraltar BSN is jointly owned by PFI of the United States through its subsidiary, The Prudential Insurance Company of America (PICA) and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) of Malaysia. Under the OCOF program, employees and selected authorized agencies volunteer their services at children’s homes across Malaysia, in hope of making a difference to the lives of underprivileged children around the country.
