Gibraltar BSN Organises Makeover For Charity Home - New Sabah Time

28 Nov 2015

Kuala Lumpur : As part of Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad's (Gibraltar BSN) Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, the life insurance company commemorated its second annual International Volunteer Day (IVD) by organizing a makeover for the Persatuan Kebajikan Sweet Care (PKSC) home.

PKSC is a charitable home that cares for over 40 orphans, underprivileged children as well as senior citizens from broken homes who are abused, abandoned and neglected.

The day kicked of with enthusiastic volunteers from Gibraltar BSN eager to refurbish the home, much to the delight of the children at PKSC. The ambience was buzzing with excitement as the kids chipped in by helping the volunteers with the revamping.

By the end of the day, the children and the volunteers saw a fresh coat of paint on the home's walls, a cleaner environment, new fencing surrounding the home as well as a brand new library. New book racks were also set up in the library room, along with new reading tables.

A plaque to symbolise Gibraltar BSN's contribution was then presented to PKSC by Mr. Vincent Kwo, the Chief Executive Officer of Gibraltar BSN. Later, the children were treated to delectable snacks as they spent some quality time with the volunteers.

Mr. Kwo said, "At Gibraltar BSN, we are committed to adding value to the community. With our efforts today, we continue to strive to make a difference in the lives of those in need. This is the second year we are celebrating IVD, and we are definitely looking forward to more years to come. As a responsible corporate citizen, these are the goals that we should always strive for - to foster the spirit of giving and sharing with the community."

Founder of PKSC, Ms. Thanam Krishnan said, "We are extremely grateful to Gibraltar BSN and its volunteers. The home is much brighter and is definitely a more welcoming environment for everyone here, especially with the new library and fence! The enthusiasm of the volunteers was very inspiring, and it is a pleasant sight to see the people of this country reach out a helping hand."

Gibraltar BSN is jointly owned by Prudential Financial Inc (PFI) of the United States through its subsidiary, The Prudential Insurance Company of America (PICA) and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) of Malaysia.

IVD was introduced in 1995 by PFI to celebrate the company's volunteerism around the world by hosting activities such as building homes, beautifying local parks and mentoring children, to name a few. This is in line with Gibraltar BSN's local CSR initiatives gearing towards education, heath, infrastructure, environment, sustainable livelihood and social causes. -(PR)
